2025 REPORT
Forever
Pierre worked hard all his life. Upon retirement, he could have chosen a peaceful life, but this new stage also led
him to reflect on what he wanted to leave behind.
At Pairi Daiza, he found more than just a place to walk. It became somewhere he returned to again and again,
to observe and to wonder. Gradually, the idea grew of passing on part of what he had built to a cause he truly
believes in.
Today, he shares in his own words his connection with Pairi Daiza and the path that led him to consider a legacy gift.
“
I often asked myself how I could pass on everything I had built up over a lifetime of
work. Animals have always played an important role in my life. As a child, I helped
on a farm, and later I took in animals I came across along the way. That connection
developed very naturally.
Over time, I felt the need to support an initiative that protects life and leaves something
lasting and meaningful behind.
At first, I looked into conservation projects in Africa. During a visit to Pairi Daiza,
I came across the Foundation’s tent. There, I spoke with volunteers who explained their
work and gave me a copy of the Conservation Report.
That conversation played an important role in my decision. When I read the report,
I discovered a much broader vision than I had expected. It is not only about protecting
animals, but also about biodiversity, fauna and flora as a whole.
I wanted to be certain that funds are used carefully and transparently. That is why
I arranged a meeting with my solicitor to discuss everything. He advised me to contact
the Foundation directly, so I could ask my questions and better understand the projects
being supported. When making such a personal decision, it is important to proceed
with confidence and peace of mind.
That meeting confirmed my choice. I felt professionalism, commitment, and above all,
a long-term vision. Instead of dividing my estate among several charities, I chose to
support one initiative working across many areas.
For me, this legacy gift is a way to pass on my values: my love for animals, my trust in
a sustainable project, and my wish that my estate continues to contribute to protecting
all living things.
If I can give one piece of advice, it would be this: do not remain with your questions
unanswered. Take the time to seek information, speak with your solicitor, and engage
with the Foundation. That way, you can make your decision step by step and with
peace of mind. A legacy gift is deeply personal and deserves time to develop naturally.
