Rescue AND CARE FOR
2024 REPORT
BELGIUM
A SECOND LIFE AT THE RESCUE CENTRE
FOR reptiles & amphibians
AMOUNT COMMITTED TO DATE: WE CONTRIBUTE THROUGH TIME-INVESTMENT OF OUR TEAMS.
2003 > PRESENT
Reptiles and amphibians require specialist care and are often
neglected by their owners, resulting in many being abandoned.
The Pairi Daiza Foundation takes in hundreds of abandoned or
confiscated animals each year and is committed to raising public
awareness about their needs. After an essential quarantine period to
prevent the spread of contagious diseases, reptiles and amphibians
with health concerns are cared for and gradually acclimatised
to their new environment. Reintroduction into the wild is rarely
possible, but rescued animals whose species is threatened can enter
a breeding programme and thus contribute to the conservation of
their species.
