Pairi Daiza supports Aussie Ark, an organisation dedicated to the conservation of Australia’s endangered species,
such as koalas, Tasmanian devils, numbats and wallabies. Teams working in the field are helping to rehabilitate
degraded habitats and establish protected areas where wildlife can thrive in safety. For example, they are protected
from wildcats, imported to the continent two centuries ago and responsible for the disappearance of many indigenous
species.
Aussie Ark is also on a mission to establish robust back-up populations for marsupials such as the Tasmanian Devil,
the tiger quoll and the long-nosed potoroo, which can be reintroduced in semi-freedom within the sanctuaries.
AIMS OF THE PROGRAMME:
TO ESTABLISH ROBUST BACK-UP POPULATIONS FOR AUSTRALIA’S ENDANGERED SPECIES.
TO BUILD PROTECTED SANCTUARIES, CONDUCIVE TO REWILDING.
